THE PROBLEM
Food waste is a large contributor to climate change. Contrary to popular belief, organic materials do not compost in landfills. Instead, they release methane, a dangerous greenhouse gas. Over 17% of all methane released annually comes from landfills. Organic compostable material accounts for 1/3 of all landfill waste.
HOW MIGHT WE…
design a social movement that educates people about food waste and encourages composting as a solution.
THE SOLUTION
An approachable and inclusive social movement designed to reduce the amount of food waste that ends in the landfill by:
Providing educational resources and actionable items.
Partnering with local composting organizations.
Promoting awareness for composting and its positive impact on our planet.
